Friendica is nifty, I like the feel of it and the way I can look at and follow any other accounts in the Fediverse (Apart from my Hubzilla accounts…)

Hubzilla is the eierlegende Wollmilchsau and I adore it for that, but I find the connectivity with other places just doesn't yet click with me. (Still planning some self-hosting adventures for Hubzilla when I've got the spoons for that later this year.)
What's the point of this text? No idea. Someone talk me out of jumping onto new instances. (Also, someone link me up to some "self-hosting for total n00b dummies with low spoon contingent" tutorials, please?)
