Even considering that it won't actually work as advertised, there's prior art which was completely ignored:

FEP-612d "Identifying ActivityPub Objects through DNS"

The bigger issue is that it's hard to divorce your identity from being tied to a "rental" domain name by tying it to a rental domain name.

If you don't pay the rent, you cease to exist.
