it's likely that you already know this, or don't care because you don't need it. or you don't use KDE plasma / framework, or don't even use linux as operating system of your choice. if one of the latter options applies, you don't need to read further.
i have been using linux with KDE plasma and framework for decades, but once in a while i switched to the
awesome window manager (
https://awesomewm.org ) because it supports
independent switching of desktops for each screen,
for each monitor attached to my laptop or PC.
i find this very convenient because i often want to monitor something, like chat sessions or server statistics while working on something else. the
awesome WM does not work with the wayland display manager, it's Xorg-only and there's no plan to port it. i played around with
sway (
https://swaywm.org ), a tiling WM for wayland, but for some reason i don't like it, never managed to 'get into' it properly.
there have been feature requests in the KDE bug tracker for this feature, independent switching of desktops, and for a while i monitored those...but nothing happened and i gave up eventually.
today i found, accidentally, that the feature has been added to KDE plasma !
you find that setting at the bottom of:
KDE system settings --> window management --> virtual desktops
and it works as expected. i can now switch each screen (monitor) to a different desktop independently and am happy :-)
(i am using KDE plasma 6.7.2, KDE frameworks 6.27.0)
