i'm not
into the whole fediverse thing at the moment, in a technical, nuts & bolts way. somehow my very old hubzilla instance, not updated for ages because of PHP incompatibility, doesn't properly federate with the AP part of the world.
a lot of stuff is happening in germany and i created a mastodon account: @
phani00 where i came across the following post from one
jon . what i've seen so far he has been and is thinking about
the fediverse, specially how safe it is for vulnerable groups and people.
he doesn't seem to know about hubzilla or streams and the different approach to privacy & security. eventually i'll get around to setting up my VPS again and (re-)installing hubzilla or streams. by then i'll probably be "into" the whole thing again to the point that i may be able to properly present nomadic identity and related concepts to him. until then i'll rather not mess things up by half-baked comments to his
thread or newsletter article.
Mastodon and today's fediverse are unsafe by design and unsafe by default – and instance blocking is a blunt but powerful safety toolParts 1, 2, and 3 of "Golden opportunities for the fediverse – and whatever comes next"
