A moment of tolerance.

The cutting-edge Insider publication, y'all,
cheers:
"Stop linking monkeypox to gays and bisexuals, disease experts say: this virus is spread by contact, no matter who you are... yes, all but one of those sickened are men, but public health experts and virologists say the focus on gay men with monkeypox is now "sadly reminiscent" of some of the first reports of HIV and AIDS 40 years ago."
I am, of course, wildly sorry, but actually, both forty years ago and today, the main audience for HIV outside of wild Africa is homosexuals and drug addicts. So,
according to the WSJ , gay people make up 2% of the U.S. population, but 56% of those infected with HIV and 66% of those newly infected.
In our country, one in
every four to five drug addicts is also HIV-positive.
This does not mean that there are no other victims of this cruel disease - there are, and many of the victims are completely innocent, who got it from their loved ones, whom they trusted in vain, or from their own mothers. But that is no reason to remain silent about the fact that there are lifestyles that greatly increase the chance pick up the incurable.
The reason to remain silent about the fact that there are such lifestyles is quite different: they have now been "destigmatized. That is, they have ceased to be reviled and have even gained a certain halo of sanctity because a cruel society has been tyrannizing them for so many years.
...Okay, I just have one question.
What if tomorrow presents us with a disease that exclusively exterminates gluttons?
What would be the right thing to do in that case, fighting fat-shaming and repenting to the fat people for not being able to build a society that protects them from the plague?
Or should we recommend that they pull themselves together and give up their pastries?
