MacOS updates (13.6.5 -> 13.6.6) in the morning.
In both cases
% xz- V
results in
xz (XZ Utils) 5.6.1
liblzma 5.6.1
Apple isn't fixing this on time (?).

I surely knew that this post would lead to people on other OS saying that it doesn't make sense to use macos anyways. Thanks for proving my unoutspoken hypothesis #
jijiji
.
However, am curious, how other macos users are treating this incidence.

my ultimate conclusion is:
use whatever works for you
-- which includes iThings & such. still, i'd like to know what makes you use MacOS, if you care to explain. i understand windoze, that comes pre-installed on everything and sort-of works these days, but Mac? i've never used it so perhaps there's reasons that elude me.

Oh, i am -
obviously
- a music maker. So the reason for me to use macos (and rarely also windows) is simply, that almost none of the best sound music and sound software on the planet is available for Linux.
Also, most of the hardware makers, prominently converter manufacturers don't support Linux with drivers and even converters, that support simple USB2 class compliant connections aren't working at times. Because of that there is also no properly conducted blind tests of the actual sound of softwares, that might support Linux vs. macos vs. Windows today.
So for me there is no base to switch to Linux, although i am eyeing this since a long time (for the usual reasons).

of course, that makes perfect sense, didn't think of it. i'm just playing around sometimes with rosegarden and ardour, but it's no comparison to the last
real
midi software i've used on windows, cubase. that's decades ago and i'm not seriously into music, so it doesn't stop me from using linux.
