How does this take into account the rest of the world and its practices away from W.Europe and N.America?
How is science, technology, industrial practices, emploument of any of the previous three by elites for social control, perceived as one big blob?
What is so important about 1500? The Russian and Ottoman empires on the East had little to do with W.European middle ages. In 16th century the W.Europeans begun the spree of global colonialism, rape, theft and domination.
Consequently from this chain of inhumanity first the Dutch and the English then the French and Americans develop capitalism.
But is that all humanity has to show as significant?
Let's hope not, or we should really cause extinction and suicide

I apologize if it sounds rude, I happen to be a materialist really really deeply, and with great respect to dialectics and historical processes. Idealism, individual thought and spirituality is only smoke and fog clouding critical thinking. What happens on earth does not happen due to individuals' consciousness, thought, feelings or behavior. It only happens because those with power and wealth can dictate their wishes and pawns rush to their execution. If somehow pawns would organize and gain the needed power to counter that of wealth and political power, then things can change.
