#bookbinding #fanbinding I've been to the Renegade Europe Retreat last weekend and it's been so much fun meeting everyone and doing bookbind-y stuff. I'm still exhausted and most likely will remain so for a few more days I'm afraid.
So, what did we do, apart from a guided tour by a local to a Cologne pub? Swapping bookcloth and doing workshops, of course! Sadly, I couldn't participate in all of them, since I needed rest in between.
The first workshop on Saturday I participated was about buttonhole binding. It's a fun technique, even though I need to practise more. The knots do look wonky and I think when doing the second row, I should have had more tension on the threads. This also marks the first time working with linen thread.
So much potential with those holes and for pretty papers!
Next up, I made a beautiful anti-prism box!

It was terrifying, having to cut into the board to get it to be all wiggly without cutting through. But we all made it!

And that wrapped up my Saturday. On Sunday, I only did the lectern bind, since that was spread over three workshops.

I did find an empty drawer in my paper storage cupboard. Which is now not empty any more.
All my pretty bookcloths. This drawer makes me happy. I'm so excited for new projects with my new bookcloth. MUST BIND ALL THE BOOKS!
