We have had very good sun rises and sun sets because of the volcano. We will see next year if it is having a real effect.

The ocean takes a lot to heat and cool and that has the biggest effect on new zealand.

We have had plenty of snow in the mountains but also plenty of warm rain to melt that snow.

We have also had endless storms from the North bringing very heavy rain and floods. It will be interesting to see how the summer plays out the last few years have been very wet until after January. You might notice where I live we have had rain.

@irreversiblechaos@iviv.hu - I noticed this cold air seems to have missed all but the very north of NZ. I assume things will eventually stabilize, but yes, interesting to hear what the weather has been like there for you. For us Northern Hemisphere folks, two generally reliable Almanacs are predicting colder and wetter than normal for most of the USA in our upcoming winter.
