So Debian has started rolling out library packages with "t64" at the end for
trixie.
This is due to the impending Year 2038 problem: In 2038, 32-bit time will run out. To prevent damage of the kind that was expected in 2000, loads of libraries require an ABI change.
Debian mentions just shy of 500,
Phoronix speaks of over 1,200. And APT can't handle this properly without manual intervention.
All because some admins have no qualms with running
oldoldoldoldoldoldstable on production machines, but Debian can't take such a step on
stable.
Inconvenient Trixie strikes again.
