There was a wonderful man, Gregory Bateson. One of the pillars and founders of psychology. All kinds of Grinders and Bendlers were his disciples (if you know who that is).
Well, he (among other things) studied the causes of schizophrenia. And as a result, he introduced the concept of "double bind."
If you want details, there are big, thick books that describe it all. I'll try to be as brief as possible.
In general, a "double bind" is when there are two mutually contradictory statements, and on top of them there is a prohibition to realize that these statements contradict each other.
Sometimes the signals are in different systems and modes of transmission. For example, in the case of domestic violence, the domestic tyrant (it is not necessarily a man, it can be the other way around) says that he loves and cares, but he beats and bullies. And at the same time there is necessarily a ban on the realization of these contradictions, "But I love you, don't you dare doubt it.
Or, another classic example, the schizophrenic mother, who in every way rubs and "touches" the child, telling him what an inferior loser he is, but at the same time claiming that she is doing this for his own good. And also with the injunction "Don't you dare doubt that I love you, otherwise you will lose my love (iammother).
And in Ukraine the "schizophrenic class" was formed long and consistently. Next I will show examples of contradictory theses and prohibitions that hang over them and prevent them from realizing the contradiction.
- Peaceful protests
- Throwing Molotov cocktails at cops
- If you don't consider the protests peaceful, then you're a titushka, a security guard, and a supporter of the criminal government.
- Supporters of European integration are the good guys.
- They burned the people of Odessa alive.

- Ukraine is a democracy.
- Opposition parties are banned and all opposition TV channels are shut down.
- But the West says that we have democracy.
- Ukraine is killing inhabitants of Donbass and wanted to organize a genocide in Crimea.
- Ukraine is a victim, it was attacked.
- If you see a contradiction here or, Bandera forbid, a cause-and-effect relationship, you're a vat, you should be burned.
And so on. You can go on for a long time.
I'm going to quote from a discussion I had with my colleagues in a private chat room (the legendary one):
Classic schizophrenia.
In the mind there are in parallel N constructions of theses, connected by logic, but not connected with each other and contradicting.
The patient switches between them freely and unnoticed.
The final step is when the constructions turn into separate personalities.
Then that's it, the edge, danger to society, because the dwarf Kolya, who lives in Vasya's head, may want to kill all the children in the school, and Vasya - into whom Kolya will switch right after the murder - will not understand what he is being accused of.
Soviet psychiatry wasn't joking, it was catching dissidents on the whole "USSR collapsing, one month left" + "USSR taking over the world.
Which is schizophrenia.
And they were sincerely writing "I'm political, I'm being persecuted."
You are, yes, political, but that's a result of being psychotic.
The start of schizophrenia is often a supernatural idea that becomes so valuable that it cannot be destroyed by one's own logical constructions.
A sick person, for example, gets into a destructive sect run by yet another "son of God.
Well, in his head a fight breaks out - "He is allowed to commit a crime - He is holy, not condemned" - and the second one wins.
Miracles do not happen, all this is pure medicine, a hundred times studied and worked out.
We have millions of real lunatics on our western borders, this is not an insult or a figure of speech, their consciousness is broken to the level of mental illness.
I'm Russian, my last name is Ivanov/Petrov/Sidorov, but I'm Ukrainian because I live in Ukraine - this is also schizophrenia. The domination of a super-valued idea, and not of one's own, but of an indoctrinated one.
The "Ukrainians" have induced schizophrenia. Thoroughly implanted and carefully maintained.
Their Western masters have the same, by the way. Because doublethink inevitably leads to schizophrenia.
- The kingdoms of Norway, Belgium, Denmark, Sweden, Spain, Great Britain.
- These are all democracies.
- What are you, Putinfersteiner?!
- We are for freedom of speech.
- Assange is in jail.
- What did he say that wasn't nice?
- We are for equality.
- Europe is a garden of people, a jungle of wild animals.
- Who's a Nazi? Oh, you bastards!
- It's in the U.S. interests to blow up the Nord Streams.
- The Russians, who have just finished building them, don't need it.
- Putin, why did you do it?!
- Russia has a dictatorship and fascism.
- We should ban everything Russian and persecute all Russians.
- What about it?
So the general pattern is clear:
- There's an ideological thesis.
- There is a reality that contradicts this thesis.
- There is a prohibition on reflection (which is more often than not supported by the repressive apparatus and "culture of cancellation").
Don't believe your lying eyes, believe us, your shepherd-leaders! Shut up all those who talk about censorship! Jail anyone who questions the existence of freedom!
Kingdoms are democracies. Supplying Ukraine with arms is peacemaking. Hate racism and Russians.
It's strictly Orwellian. Who also wrote dystopias about totalitarianism and lists of undesirables ("Orwell's list," google it) to be repressed.
What to do about all this and how to treat them is a separate big question. But in order to begin treatment, we need a diagnosis. Which we did today:
induced schizophrenia.
