Binding a little notebook for a friend's birthday. Was tempted to do a little Swiss Binding, and she said notebooks are always welcome. So, perfect excuse for swissing it up.
However, I was procrastinating glueing this, because of my preference for building the case around the textblock instead of first creating the case and then glueing the textblock in. But I'm on a deadline for this, so I better got on with it.
Still, I progressed so much more today than I had planned. (Also got some progress on the Dragon Riders trilogy in. February really shall be the month to free me from lingering binding projects. Because new ones are already waiting for printing…)
So…
Case prepared!

Textblock fits nicely!

Pretty French link! So happy to finally be working on something where it'll stay visible. Justice for pretty stitches!

I've used a 2025 calendar with fruit and veggies for endpapers. We didn't need it, so I put it aside in hopes of using it for some binding. A little notebook seemed like a good project for upcycled calendar. (I still have 10 months to use up)

And because it went well enough, I
also glued in the end
paperscloths. Decided to go for cloth to more easily press them into the creases.

Textblock still fits.

That side will be glued down. Which is why I folded the back endpapers with the calendar outside. Not glueing down the prettier side. I hope it'll hold well when in use. Almost temped to punch holes into the whole thing and sew all around…

And because I still had some time, I also did some hot pen foiling on the cover.

So, all that's left is indeed, glueing the textblock in. 🙌🏻 Hopefully, I can do that tomorrow, Friday the latest.

bookbinding(Totally unrelated, but this needs a draft feature. I'm getting nervous writing long things without saving… Old Windows 3.1 habits die hard. Write a word, hit CTRL+S because the old thing will crash on you any second now.)
