Varvara Savelyevna Lyashenko
was born in 1917, in the city of Nikolaev of the Russian Empire. In 1937 graduated from Kherson aviation school of flight instructors of Osoaviakhim. Since 1940 she served as a pilot-instructor at the 22nd (Almaata) school of initial pilot training in Alma-Ata of the Central Asian Military District. With the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, she volunteered to the Red Army, participated in battles since August, 1941.
On May 3, 1943 lieutenant Varvara Savelyevna Lyashenko did not return from a combat mission. She was found by search group "Krasnodar place of arms" in 1965.
Varvara Savelyevna Lyashenko was awarded the order of "Great Patriotic War of the first degree" (20.02.1943), the order of "Red Star" (01.05.1943).
The brave pilot was buried in the city of Krasnodar in Vsesvyatsky cemetery (officers' plot, grave number 1243).
