We have a quite prolific creator of original mesh clothes in #
DorenasWorld, Klarabella Karamell. One of her motivations is that what comes in from #
SecondLife in not necessarily so legal ways doesn't fit her tastes, especially the lack of #
skirts and dresses longer than some three inches below the crotch. Also, unlike most other female avatars, she doesn't have an Athena mesh body (which is basically a roughly 8-year-old Maitreya Lara) but a Ruth 2.0 RC#2. So she's better off with making her own clothes and then offering to whoever wants them.
What she also makes is loads and loads of textures that can be used on these clothes, especially her various skirts. I love to take her skirts and her textures and combine them. And then, just like Klara, I don't necessarily have to keep them only for myself. I mean, go to those typical freebie sims and look around. You'll hardly find any mesh skirts that are longer than micro-mini-length. Few have been made in Second Life because they're considered hard to make, fewer have been stolen and taken to the #
Hypergrid because they're considered unsexy, and I guess there are shopkeeps who, while having found boxes with them inside, refuse to offer them for the same reason: Women always have to wear as short skirts as possible.
For those who think this is non-sense, but who suffer from the consequences of this way of thinking, Klara makes her skirts, and I'd like to share my lots of variants with them.
Still, my work on these skirts is limited. Klara has made the meshes, Klara has made the textures, I've only combined them. Also, I've exported the denim texture for the miniskirt and retinted it several times in #
GIMP. Looks a lot better than tinting in-world because I didn't want to tint certain bits and pieces like the button.
My only original contribution, apart from the notecards in the boxes, is the alpha mask I've originally made for myself. It should make the skirts easier to wear for at least #
Ruth2 v4.
So here are my first three skirt boxes. The miniskirt box is somewhat older, the boxes with calf-length skirts came out last night. All three kinds of skirts are designed to match Damien Fate's mesh clothes.
Keep in mind that they aren't rigged for Athena. Depending on which tops you want to combine with them, they may still work on Athena. And since they aren't modelled onto Athena's skin unlike most Athena skirts and dresses, they can be worn with mesh hosiery underneath, maybe even leggings. Of course, you can also wear them with classic layer hosiery which is what I do.
All three boxes are available in
Santiago on the top floor of the Kaufrausch Megastore (the landing-point is inside the building). Expect more boxes to become available here, I just don't know when.
