I don't have fabulous eyesight, but I wouldn't consider myself visually impaired. Still I have come to appreciate
#AltText a lot – like A LOT – because it provides exactly the context that I need to really understand a picture. More than half of the pictures would be completely lost on me without alt text.
Pictures without alt text feel to me like a phone call with that friend of mine who always says things like: 'You know they got themselves a Jumbleflux for 4K' – but having never even heard about a Jumbleflux, I don't know if 4K is dirt cheap or massively overpriced, so I don't know how to react.
Pictures without alt text just have me begging: Please tell me, what are we looking at, and why did you want us to see it?
